The next Mac Pro won’t be here this year. Apple confirmed that the new line of its most powerful computer will arrive in 2019.
“We want to be transparent and communicate openly with our professional community,” said Tom Boger, chief marketing officer of MAC hardware products, after he had spread the word in some specialized sites that he would be released at the end of 2018.
In 2013, the company introduced a new cylindrical design on its Mac Pro, but it is now possible for Apple to return to the modular system.
“In certain sectors there is an absolute need for modularity. But it is also very clear that the shape of the IMac or MacBook Pro can be an exceptionally good tool, “said the executive.
Apple also announced the creation of a new workgroup, called Pro Workflow Team, that will work closely with the engineering organization and focus on professional products such as Mac Pro.
Apple would be planning to stop using Intel processors and design their own for Mac by 2020.
