Facebook will regulate profiles with many followers

Facebook Inc. announced that it would introduce an authorization process for users who manage social network pages with a large number of followers in the United States, a decision that seeks to hinder the Administration using a false or compromised account.

The measures are released one week after the social network said that it identified a new coordinated campaign of political influence on its platform to deceive users before the November legislative elections in the United States.

At the time, the company eliminated 32 Facebook and Instagram pages and accounts as part of efforts to combat foreign meddling in U.S. elections.
