Fortinet®, a global leader in broad, integrated and automated cybersecurity solutions, today announced the results from International Data Corporation’s (IDC) latest Worldwide Quarterly Security Appliance Tracker. The 2018 Q4 report reinforces Fortinet’s continued leadership in Latin America, positioning the company as the number one cybersecurity vendor in the region in both units of shipped security appliances and in revenue generated by the sale of these units in 2018, considering the Firewall / UTM / IDP (IPS & IDS) / VPN technology category.
Once again securing the regional leader placement, Fortinet earned 46.73 percent of the appliance shipments unit market share in 2018. The company also led the regional revenue market share with a 24.34 percent during the same time period, further showing the cybersecurity leader’s strong presence and demand in Latin America for the aforementioned technologies.
In 2018, Fortinet also positioned itself as the number one cybersecurity company in appliance shipments unit market share in several key Latin American markets, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and a consolidated geography called Rest of Latin America. At a global scale, Fortinet also saw an appliance shipment increase of 22.4 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2018 and was once again the leader in terms of security appliance shipments for the sixth consecutive year. Moreover, Fortinet’s unique Firewall, Unified Threat Management (UTM) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions helped the company move from the third to second spot in revenue for the combined markets in the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the previous quarter.
