Waymo: Free music and WiFi for driverless taxis

It’s a Google self-driving project that’s looking for ways to distinguish itself in the taxi market, in which you have no choice but to compete with travel apps sharing and other self-driving services, as well as with traditional taxis and public transport.

That’s why Waymo is focusing on better services to attract regular customers. Features currently being tested on Waymo vehicles in the Phoenix metropolitan area include free WiFi and music streaming, provided by Google Play Music without ads.

Users can listen to playlists preset or listen to their own playlists to link your accounts of Waymo and Google Play Music.

Currently the service WiFi is available only to a small subset of users that they have been forbidden to speak publicly about their experience. Waymo wants to give passengers the option to work on their tablet or computer, especially when it starts offering longer-distance trips. Another advantage is including air conditioning to keep vehicles at 72 degrees. Charging cables are also available to charge users’ devices.

The biggest advantage could be its consistency. All vehicles are of the same make, model and design, so users can rely on familiarity for each trip, unlike Uber’s travel.

Although Waymo carries a driver in the van in case of emergency, these drivers do not talk to passengers.
